Basic chemical and physical data: white crystal (pure Chlorothalonil). Melting point 250 – 251℃, boiling poing 350℃. Density is 1.7g/cm3 (25℃), vapor pressure is lower than 1.3Pa (40℃) and 1.23kPa (170.4℃). Solubility: slightly soluble in water (0.6mg/L), 20g/kg in acetone, 30g/kg in cyclohexanone, 20g/kg in DMF, less 10g/kg in kerosene, 20g/kg in xylene. Stability: stable in normal condition, stable to sunlight, and stable in weak acidic and weak alkali media, hydrolyze in strong alkali (PH>9). It is non-corrosive.
Usage: Chlorothalonil is a broad-spectrum organochlorine fungicide used to control fungi that threaten vegetables, trees, small fruits, turf, ornamentals, and other agricultural crops. It also controls fruit rots in cranberry bogs.
Toxicity: Acute oral LD50: greater than 10000mg/kg in rats, 5000mg/kg in dog, 21500mg/kg in mallard ducks, 5200mg/kg in quail. Acute dermal LD50 is 10000mg/kg in rabbits. The TLm (48h) is 0.11mg/L in carp, 0.25
Storage: Chlorothalonil shall be stored in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. It should not be stored or transported along with foods.
