White powder, odorless, 2,4-D technical has phenol odor. Vapor pressure 160℃ (0.05kPa). Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in oils, soluble in ethanol. Relative density (air = 1) 7.6. 2,4-D is stable, normally it forms salt or ester for usage. 2,4-D sodium salt is white solid, melting point 215 – 216℃, soluble in water. 2,4-D amine salt is soluble in water, but 2,4-D butyl ester is not soluble in water. |
Usage: |
2,4-D is a selective herbicide. In agriculture it is used as herbicide and also plant growth regulator. |
