Basic chemical and physical data: Pure Paraquat is white crystal, Paraquat technical is brown liquid, m. p. 300℃ (decompose). Vapor pressure <0.1mPa (25℃), d (20℃) 1.24 – 1.26g/cm3. Solubility (20℃): 700g/L in water, almost nonsoluble in most organic solvents. Stability: stable in acidic and neutral media, hydrolyze rapidly in basic condition. Photolysis in water solution and under the UV light.
Usage: Paraquat is a non-selective herbicide, pre-emergency application will control the weeds on the ground and dry rot the weeds. It is mainly used to control the weeds in the garden, mulberry plantation, rubber plantation, rice paddy, dry land and tilth-free plantation etc.
Toxicity: Moderate toxicity. Acute oral LD50 is 139 - 162mg/kg in rats. Acute dermal LD50 is 325mg/kg in rabbits. TLm (48h) to carp is 40mg/L.
Storage: Paraquat shall be stored in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. It should not be stored or transported along with foods.
